AMSCO DESIGNS STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES
Natural disasters such as the COVID-19 usually disrupt business operations and the trickledown effect of a non-productive economy affects a number of people; especially the vulnerable members of society. AMSCO in partnership with Prospero at the request of Business Coalition Council Emergency Taskforce (BCCET) developed Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.Ps) to enable business continuity in Zambia in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected and disrupted the way of life and way of doing business world over and Zambia is not an exception. As a result, a number of enterprises have closed, some employees have been laid off, some enterprises have had to cut salaries of their employees to remain afloat and survive during the pandemic in Zambia.
The Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) were developed to be employed as a guide to aid business enterprises re-open or continue operating and survive during the COVID-19 pandemic. The SOPs are to be adapted to each industry or sector under the “New Normal” using the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines. 13 sectors were identified and with the guidance of industry experts AMSCO developed new SOPs and adopted existing ones in some industries using best practice(s). These industries include: Tourism, Transport, Informal Sector, (markets, bus stations etc) Retail (Shopping Malls), Mining, Private Medical Care, Banking and Financial Services, Education, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Property Management, and Construction. The SOPs outlined; screening for COVID-19 symptoms before employees report for work, temperature check, social distance of 1.5m- 2 m, employee awareness and safety, hand wash stations, hand sanitizing among others.
Safety is on everyone - We are only as safe as the least safe member of society. Mask up, sanitize, or wash your hands with an antibacterial soap and maintain social distance.
