ATMS Foundation

Who are We?

The ATMS Foundation was established by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in 1996 under the laws of the Kingdom of The Netherlands, as an independent legal entity to support projects within the framework of the ATMS Project. The Foundation is funded by a number of committed bilateral, multilateral, and private donors.

Background

Between 1989 and 2017, the ATMS Project was sub-Saharan Africa's biggest and most ambitious human capital development effort in the private sector. Created to play a key role in Africa's economic development and operating in over twenty-five countries, the Project provided human capital solutions that led to wealth creation via the private sector and commercially operated state enterprise.

The ATMS Project was a regional project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The International Finance Corporation (IFC) was the executing agency and the African Development Bank (AfDB), regional coordinating agency. Host governments continue to facilitate entry into countries of operation. The ATMS Foundation is the shareholder of AMSCO.
